While scanning my laptop, the anti-virus detected a highly-rated virus. It is expected that all antivirus would quarantine that. What I did was I deleted it in the virus vault. So, my question is after what I've done where would the virus go? I mean is it like the files deleted on the recycle bin where you can still recover it?

Where do deleted virus go?
You can delete an infected file from your PC and it will not harm. An infected file is completely removed from your computer if you delete it. You can recover a deleted because it is not sent to recycle bin. To remove the viruses generally you have following options:
-
Clean: It try to remove the infection from the file. If it is possible then, file remains in Computer and only virus
-
Quarantine: Attempts to move the file to a safe location that is managed by the antivirus software.
-
Delete: in this option Antivirus software removes the file completely from the system.

Where do deleted virus go?
In virus programs ‘Virus Vault’ is known as ‘Quarantine’. Quarantine is a place where the viruses go in temporally. This is as a precaution and it is safe place. That means, any harm will not come from the viruses, which are in quarantine.
The reason for existence of quarantine is to stop the risk of deleting false positive detections. For example, suppose if a programme file is mistakenly flagged as malware and when it has reached to the quarantine, you can recover it again. Therefore, you can minimize the risks of unnecessary hazards.
However, once you deleted the files in the quarantine, they are permanently deleted.
