Which is the best Home Antivirus for home

I am using computers since past 10 years for home only and using AVG and Avast antivirus. I used to get lot of comments from my friends telling that the system will crash if there are two antivirus in the same computer and when both are active simultaneously. I have not spotted anything upfront till now. But recently after updating Avast antivirus to latest version my PC has become dead slow. Now I am thinking to have only one antivirus. Can anybody suggest on the same? It is to home usage and has to be free and less size so that my computer can run faster than now. Thanks

I am listing out some of the best antivirus now available in market. It is true that if you use more than 1 antivirus your system will get hanged.
