I want to encode music exclusively, and will have encoded my songs at 80kbps, in order to have my whole music collection available on my portable player. So which option is the best in terms of quality for this bitrate?
Which is best for low bitrate music – AAC or HE-AAC?
HE (high efficiency) AAC is definitely better than AAC because HE (High efficiency) AAC is an extension of standard AAC, which significantly improves the music quality at low bit rates.

Hello Superhans,
You wanted to know which the best for low bitrate music is. In the answer I have to say that AAC is the best for music. I have used it and found good quality. You should carry around AAC 192/256 kbps files for better sound. 80 kbps is not good for encoding or ripping though it depends on song quality.
