There is a big difference between FTP and HTTP in terms of use when either downloading or uploading files to a remote location although both can be used to upload and download files. HTTP is the easiest way to download files because the data is already available by means of a link which a user only needs to click to start the download. It can be accessed by the general public by simply using the web browser.
FTP is different in terms of downloading or uploading files. This is mostly used by webmasters or website owners when they are uploading files to their site. Unlike HTTP that doesn’t require any configuring of the connection, in FTP you are required to provide a username, a password, and especially the port number and the IP address or host. Most of the time when accessing files with FTP, users uses FTP client applications to facilitate the tasks that they are doing. So the difference would be, in HTTP you get to work or access with the file by means of a link or an upload form while in FTP you have direct access to the files in the server.
HTTP and FTP both are popular downloading systems. I wanted to start a server but I became unsettled what to use in order to make downloads faster. Also I was curious what the difference is between FTP and HTTP. Now I am clear on both systems because it was discussed in the comments regarding these two popular downloading systems. This credit all goes to Sharath Reddy. He explained most effectively such that it was not difficult to understand. I am really grateful to him. Now, I categorized these two downloading system according to their capabilities. I am using HTTP for page loading and FTP for data uploading to my server and my website runs fast and smooth the way I like. Thanks Sharath for helping me to make the proper decision.
