Windows XP has a more stable environment due to reduced reboot scenarios. So there is less crashing of the computer and losing of important files, improved code protection, Encrypting File System with multi-user IP Security, Windows File protection, and preemptive multi-tasking features.
It is reliable and has a higher performance. It has the Windows Firewall and Windows Security Center. It also has the fascinating Hibernate Mode, wherein you will be able to go back to that state before shutting down with all the programs running.
Since this is a Professional Series, it has faster access to the Internet. It also has a registration which disables downloads or pirated versions that downgrade the quality of the software. It has Kerberos and Smart card support. Of course, it has a fresh visual view compared to the older models.

Faster startup (compared to previous Windows versions, logoff, hibernation, logon and launching of applications. New security features. Improved application compatibility and shims. Kernel enhancements and improvements in power management. Fast user switching, Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop. This and a lot of other features are present in Windows XP.
