The type of laptop that suits you best will depend on the types of games that you plan to use it to play.

To play the most basic games, the minimum specifications are:

Operating System: Windows XP

Processor: Dual core 1 GHZ

Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Memory: 2 GB RAM

Storage: 200 GB hard disk space

Media: Audio input and Output ports

Display resolution: 1024 x 768 minimum

Note: These are the lowest specifications that a laptop should have that would allow it to be used to play some basic games.

If you need a powerful laptop to run high-end games, here are two of my recommendations:

1. ASUS ROG G750 series

This laptop is quite powerful as it has all the latest technologies embedded in it. This laptop runs smoothly, does not overheat and does not make a lot of noise. It runs quietly. Its performance is quite superior compared to similar laptops within its price range. It's a must-have if you desire the best performance and game quality.

The second model I would suggest is the MSI Apache Pro. This laptop is sleek and powerful while being cheaper than the ASUS listed above. This laptop is powerful and quiet, however, it's a bit heavy and may be a burden to take around. Its rendering of high definition graphics is superb and its gameplay is flawless.

Processor: Intel Core i7 4710HQ (2.50 GHZ) can be overclocked to 3.50 GHZ

Memory: 16 GB RAM

Storage: 1 TB Hard disk drive

Video: Intel HD graphics 4400 integrated plus GeForce GTX 860M

Price: 1000 – 1300 USD

The Verdict

Based on the overall reviews given by gamers, the overall rating of the ASUS G750 is higher than that of the MSI GE70. This means most gamers consider the performance of the ASUS G750 to be superior to that of the MSI GE70.

They are two very powerful gaming laptops. Your choice may be influenced by your budget since the ASUS is more expensive compared to the MSI. Whichever you choose, you are in for a great buy.
