Hi, I purchased a product key from Microsoft store Windows 8, but when I’m entering it in Windows 7 it shows invalid. Why does it happen? Both are Microsoft product seven though Windows 8 is updated version of Windows 7. Thanks in advance.
Why Windows 7 Not Accepting Updated Microsoft Store Windows 8 Key
Hi, there is an unpublished algorithm designed by Microsoft, this will test entered keys at the time of activation. The Product key is the encrypted code of letters and numbers in a unique pattern. The pattern is unknown to us and known to only Microsoft and Windows OS. Each of Windows versions such as Windows 7, premium, ultimate, 8, 8.1 and 10 have different patterns. Even 32 bit and 64 bit of the same version also have different keys. So you have to use different keys genuinely. Although you can do through a backdoor, there are a few loopholes such as delay in the upgrade of clouds.
Why Windows 7 Not Accepting Updated Microsoft Store Windows 8 Key
No, you cannot purchase a product key for Microsoft Windows 8 and use it to activate a computer with Microsoft Windows 7. These are two different operating systems with different sets of product keys. The product keys can’t be used interchangeably. If you buy a Windows 8 product key, you should use it to activate a computer with Microsoft Windows 8 operating system.
If your computer is running on Microsoft Windows 7, buy a product key for Windows 7 and use it to activate the operating system on your computer. The product key you purchased is your license for the product. Like any other software license, one license is valid only for one particular program or version.
It cannot be used to license or register a lower or higher version of the program. Since you already bought a Windows 8 product key, might as well download the Windows 8 ISO from Microsoft. Download Windows 8.1 Disc Image (ISO) and install it on your computer.
