Will avg scan mbr viruses?

Hi! 

I was wondering if about antivirus software and if they are able to scan my MBR. I’m not also sure if viruses can infiltrate MBRs because my PC is lagging a lot and I suspect that a virus has been doing this to it. I have an AVG antivirus though with me. So my question is, will Avg scan mbr?

Hi,

Yes, the AVG Antivirus software can scan your Master Boot Record or (MBR). But if your computer is getting slow and you want your system to be faster, I recommend you to use MS security essentials anti-virus software because it is a better antivirus when you want your computer to have faster system.

Viruses can infiltrate Master Boot Record of a Computer. There’s an instances that virus hides the files and re-generate their own files or folders that you can’t notice that’s how sometimes your computer is running slow. I suggest using other antivirus though there is no such thing as a perfect anti virus. One helpful tip to scan your MBR.

Make sure your antivirus is updated. As soon as it is done, reboot your computer and during the boot up hit F8 and try to log in to Windows in a safe mode. Start scanning your system with your updated antivirus until completed then delete the entire virus detected by your antivirus then boot windows normally.
