Will GIMP work as Minecraft picture translator?

I'm translating a minecraft picture into an 8-bit picture and save as a PNG image. Paint does not work. Will GIMP work as minecraft picture translator?

Will GIMP work as Minecraft picture translator?

Hello, 

I think that in the past versions of GIMP you can not translate a minecraft picture. Maybe the newest releases of this fabulous program will add this feature. You can try to download the newest version maybe it can help you with your problem. I really like to have this option in the new GIMP software.
