Hi, I have heard about the recently released Willow Glass which is said to be way thinner than the current Gorilla Glass. Can anyone please upload an image of this new glass and also give detailed information about it as well as mention the mobile devices (if any) that are using this material?
Willow Glass, the new thin material by Corning
Scientists have developed a new type of flexible ultra thin glass that can be wrapped around electronic devices called Willow Glass, as thin as a sheet of paper about 0.05mmthick. It was developed by a New York Based firm Corning. Besides smart phones, it can also be used for displays that are not flat.
Until such conformable screens appear on the market, the glass could be used for mobile devices that are constantly becoming slimmer. According to Chowdhury, the material used to make Willow Glass is the result of the firm’s glass making called Fusion. The method involves the melting the ingredients at 500 degrees Celsius and then producing a continuous sheet that can be rolled out in a mechanism similar to traditional printing press
