I have a sound problem on my computer. When using Winamp and start playing music, it says Nulsoft Directsound 2.47 (d) error. I am running windows XP SP3 and I recently installed Nvidia GeForce gt 440. How can I fix it?
Winamp Nulsoft Directsound 2.47 Error
Dear Ivan,
The above error message is actually telling you that the driver directsound output is using is incorrect. You need to change which sound card driver to use.
As you've mentioned you've recently installed a video graphics processor – NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 – this card probably came with a HDMI output. This HDMI output supports both video and audio transfer, so basically you have another soundcard embedded in your graphics processor that's being used for HDMI output.
All you need to do is go to the Winamp settings and change to your default sound card. To do this follow these steps:
-
Open Winamp
-
Go to Options
-
Select Preferences
-
Then Output
-
Click Nullsoft DirectSound Output
-
Then Configure
From there you should be able to switch to your old sound card that runs without problems.
I hope this helps.
