I have installed Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit OS installed on my Asus K42F laptop. Everything is working fine until I upgraded to ultimate through a license key i bought. Since then all of my players (VLC, GOM,WMP) cannot play some of the videos. I installed Windows 7 codec pack but to no avail. What would be the problem? Any idea? Please help me.

Hi Hink lerbert,

It appears that when you upgraded your Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit operating system to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, some of the codecs have been corrupted or removed. You should try to reinstall VLC player and GOM player at a different directory. That should fix the above issue.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello

Your codecs have been corrupted. I recommend downloading Codec Tweak here.

  • Codec Tweak will be aBle to scan your PC for corrupt registry entries.
  • Fix broken codecs on the pc and in the registry
  • You can create a list of all installed codecs
  • You can even configure the individual settings of each codec

To use Codec Tweak

  1. Download and install the application
  2. Select tasks
  3. Check the box for detect broken codecs and filters
  4. Click next.
  5. Follow the prompts
