I am running Windows 7 OS on a laptop, trying to install an Antivirus suite. Unfortunately it requires SP1 installed. So I have downloaded it, but it downloads and then gets to 48% configured to restart and then hangs up for some time and then restarts. Then it tries again with same results saying "Service Pack 1 was not installed".
What should I do? John.
Windows 7 SP1 installation failure
Dear John,
After reading your issue, I checked Microsoft site and abstract below mentioned information for you. Before you install SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center, make sure that you follow these steps.
-
Take backup files and create restore point
-
Update all device drivers installed in your system.
-
Check windows update, if you were offered the option to install windows update KB2454826, KB2534366, or KB2533552
-
Run complete virus / Malware scan through updated Antivirus
Additional Requirement:
If you are using a laptop, make sure that you connect your laptop with electrical outlet and do not unplug or restart your computer during the installation.
Keep sufficient hard disk space to install the service pack. After doing these steps, download SPS 1 from Microsoft site and install it.
Take Care, Jhony
