Windows 8 Anti-Virus and security?

Hi,

I wanted to know whether windows 8 has built in Anti virus linked windows defender installed with the OS or we need to install other third party AV tools for securing our PC.

Does any one know about this?

Windows 8 Anti-Virus and security?

Previously, Windows Defender was an Anti-spyware program. Windows 8 comes with a new version of Windows Defender that includes Antivirus and Anti-spyware. It protects you from all types of malware including viruses, worms, bots, and rootkits.

This is an upgrade from previous Windows programs which only included signatures for adware, spyware, and potentially unwanted software.

According to some reviews, some customers don't feel comfortable using the built in Windows Defender and prefer to use a more secure antivirus software on their computer. If you chose this option, you will have to make sure to disable the Windows Defender from your computer.

Windows 8 Anti-Virus and security?

Windows defender will be there because its the basic malware removal from windows.

But you still need more protection and that is the reason people go for other anti-virus programs and install them for complete immunity against any kind of threats that the computer might come across during its normal functioning.
