I recently installed Windows 8 from Windows 7. Everything went well yesterday but when I opened it today, some of the icons are missing. What could be the solution for this?

To solve the problem just

1. Right click on the Desktop.

2. Place mouse over the View option in the menu that appears.

3. Select option "Show Desktop Icons" to place a check mark next to it.

4. Problem is Solved.

First of all, did you recently installed any third-party software or create any changes before the issue appears? If you think you have installed any software, uninstall it and see if it will fix the issue or undo any changes you made. You can also do the following steps below:

1. Run the System File Checker. Point your mouse to the bottom left of your screen where Start Menu is placed and then right-click into it to see the Windows Setting list. And then click on the Command Prompt with Admin priveledge to bring up the elevated command prompt. Type sfc /scannow. This will replace missing system files on your computer.

2. Disable any third-party security program or software. You will see third-party security software icon on the task bar. Click on it, and select the disable option on the pop up menu. Re-enable it as soon as you are done fixing your issue.

3. Do a Safe Mode boot and clean boot. To perform a clean boot, start Windows 8 with selected drivers and programs on startup. This will lessen the software conflicts.

4. Restart your computer. Press Windows + R on your keyboard and type MSCONFIG in the Run windows and click OK. Under the General tab, click Normal Setup and click OK. When prompted to restart, click Restart.

5. Right-click anywhere on your Desktop and then click the option "Show Desktop Icons".

6. Perform a full scan on your computer using your antivirus.
