From Windows 8 to 8.1 while upgrading got this error. I read that this could be a 3rd party software issues so what i did was uninstalled all the softwares, and this means even the antivirus.
An error had occurred and the installation of Windows 8.1 was unsuccessful. Try again. Error code: 0x80070004

Windows 8.1 error 0x80070004 while upgrading
Hello Cameron,
Of course, it is a problem of third-party softwares. Mostly, you have got this error before uninstalling all softwares. Now, try to use the installation process once again.
Or, from the desktop screen, press “Windows+R” and type “WSReset.exe” (without quotes) and hit Enter. Then try the installation once again.
Here is the complete guide how you will upgrade to Windows 8.1 perfectly.
I recommend you not to use Windows 8.1 as it is completely new and on alpha stage.
