I have Lenovo ThinkPad running on Windows 7 premium x86.
After I rebooted it yesterday, explorer is no longer starting.
I tried to start it manually from task manager, but it won't help.
I, then repaired the computer, scan it for viruses, and defragmented the registry.
But all this couldn't help.
Windows Explorer not starting after reboot
Hey Martina Jack!
It seems that there is problem in your windows registry. You have to create a new registry file to solve the problems.
Follow these steps that will help you a lot.
1. Click on Start button > All programs > Accessories > Notepad. Open it.
2. Copy and past the following lines in the Notepad.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionShell
  ExtensionsApproved]
  "{5E6AB780-7743-11CF-A12B-00AA004AE837}"="Microsoft Internet Toolbar"
  "{3DC7A020-0ACD-11CF-A9BB-00AA004AE837}"="The Internet"
3. Save your Notepad file with name "Enabie3.reg".
4. It will create a registry file. Double click on the file to launch the file.
That will make correction in your windows registry.
Thanks

Windows Explorer not starting after reboot
Hi Martina,
Your windows explorer is not starting up because any of the following:
-
System files on your PC may be corrupt or mismatched.
-
Your computer may be infected with virus or Malware.
-
Some applications which are running on your laptop may be causing the explorer to stop working
-
To fix this issue, please follow these steps:
-
Try updating your video driver.
-
Run system file checker.
-
Start your system in Safe mode and see if the issue exists.
If the above step does not solve your issue, I suggest you to perform a System Restore. This should fix your issue.
Thanks and regards,
Skarbos Jay.
Windows Explorer not starting after reboot
Hello Martina,
Did you tried to boot your windows in safe mode! If not than please try to do this. If using safe mode you don’t get windows explorer than you have to use windows CD. Â
Now insert the CD in the driver. Boot by the CD driver and boot to the system recovery options, click on system restore. From there select any backdate option than click OK. Now restart the system. If that works than the crash was just a normal system crash. If this do not work than you may get so many other advises or solutions on internet.
But I would prefer to install a new copy of windows 7. Â
Thank you,
 Riley Weaver.
