I was trying to activate Windows 8; an error code 0x8004fe33 appeared on the screen. It was asking me to enter some six-digit installation ID. Please help me.

Windows Is Showing Error Code 0x8004fe33, Failed To Authenticate.

The possible cause is your internet connection’s basic authentication might me enabled. Basic authentication requires you to enter username and password, but the user interface on your system does not allow you to do so. Therefore, the activation fails.

You can follow these steps –

1. For General Users – Activate the Windows using the mobile phone.

• Go to Window Activation Wizard and select the option of initiating Windows using telephone services. In the run command window, type SLUI 04.

2. For Advanced Users – there are two methods for advanced users.

• Method 1 – The user can disable the authentication option, this will allow the windows to complete the authentication.
• Method 2 – The user can add URLs that does not require Basic Authentication.
