Hi all,
I uninstalled the previous version of my windows live essentials in order to install the 2012 version of windows live essentials. However, when I ran the 2012 set-up for windows live essential an error pops-up to terminate the download process.
I have used both tune-up utilities and cc cleaner to clear-away the registry but it doesn’t solve the problem.
What should I do now?
Windows live essential an error pops-up to terminate the download process
Hi Good day!
First solution is, try to remove your internet connection so that it won’t download the catalog file.
I hope your installer is a Full Installer so that it won’t have any errors.
Second is before install follow this steps:
-
Open your Internet Browser (IE, GC, Firefox, Opera).
-
Go to Tools, and then click Internet Options.
-
Proceed to Connections tab, and then click the LAN settings button.
-
Click to select the check box for Use automatic configuration script.
-
Copy the link that is shown in the Address box below the check box. Back it up or paste
-
It on notepad. (in case you want to restore this setting when you are done installing Windows Live).
-
Delete the link in the Address box, and replace it with a space character.
-
Proceed to OK in LAN settings dialog.
-
Click the LAN settings again.
-
Clear all the check box for Use automatic configuration script.
-
Then click OK in Local Area Network settings.
-
Then click OK in the Internet Options.
-
Install again the Windows Essentials Installer.
Please follow the steps carefully.

Hi Hall Allen,
There is software especially for when you update or install a new version that needs to be rebooted in order to clean up the data of the previous software you had. Try rebooting your machine, then try to install it again. Also be careful when using Ccleaner, as this can sometimes delete some of the registry that is needed to run your computer.
Thank you,
