I have recently installed OS windows 8 on my system but after installation windows media player is not working. Whenever I try to launch it, I get an error on my screen. The screenshot of the error is attached below:

The error message says:

Setup_wm.exe – Bad Image

C:Program Files (x86)Windows Media PlayerUSERNV.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your software vendor for support.

Error Status: 0xc0000428

Can anyone please tell me what can be the possible reasons behind this error and how can it be removed? Any help will be highly appreciated.

Kindest regards

Hello Nelson,

You are using an OS that might not be genuine because the C:Program Files (x86)Windows Media PlayerUSERENV.dll
is NOT a file supplied by Windows. So you will need to ensure that you download the software from the manufacturer's site, as well ensure that you don't download a version that is not compatible.

Nicke

Hello Nelson,

I have seen this error before and has a simple solution for this. Windows media player does not need the file C:Program Files (x86)Windows Media PlayerUSERNV.dll. Simply delete the file and run again. It will fix the issue.

Thanks
