Hello,
I am facing a new problem with Windows Media Player from a few days. It lags while playing MP3 audio files, although the lag is tolerable as it happens at the beginning of the song but plays smoothly after sometimes. But, when I try to play AVI files, Windows Media Player starts lagging every 2-3 seconds. I tried re-installing  a fresh copy of Windows 7 but the problem still persists. How can I fix this problem?
Thanks,
Tazwar

Hello Tazwar,
To solve the problem, please follow the steps mentioned below:
1- Clear the database of the windows media player and check if the problem is solved. To do this, go to start -> run -> type %LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftMedia Player and delete the files.
2- Clear the cache of the windows media player database.
3- Register your files again related to your media player.
4- Restart your computer and start your media player. It will work fine.

Do you have other media player aside from Windows Media Player? If so, remove it and then set the WMP to be the default media player. Just check on options for the file association. Next is to defrag your hard disk drive so all your files are not scattered on your computer. and then check if the problem has been resolved. If the problem still persist, try to use another media player for playing videos or update to the most recent version of WMP from the link below:
