Every time I open my laptop and boot into Windows, a dialog box appears. It contains the following error:
“Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service stopped working and was closed
A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.”
How could I prevent this box from popping up every time I turn on my laptop? Is there a way to solve the problem with Windows Media Player manually?

Windows Media Player Stopped Working
Hello FPCB,
One way you can try solving the problem is by troubleshooting the problems online or looking for updates just in case the windows media player you are using is an old version that does not support many video and music formats.
Otherwise, I will advise you to install some other video players like VLC and media player classic, and also MPC star which offers a very good support for different music and video formats and they do not have a lot of bugs as those you may experience while using windows media player.
Especially if you are using XP, all you need to get one of the players that I have mentioned and install it.

Windows Media Player Stopped Working
Hi FPCB10!
This is about Digital Right Management Issue (DRM). To solve this issue, follow the step by step procedure below:
-
Just go to C:ProgramDatamicrosoftWindowsDRM and go to toolsfolder option.
-
Next is select the view tab and select the "show hidden files and folders".
-
After that you need to uncheck the box saying – hide protected operating system files.
-
And then click apply and ok.
-
Refresh your computer so that you can see the files in the DRM folder.
-
Next moves the files into the recycle bin and in Media Player.
-
You need to enable sharing.
I'm 100% sure that this solution will solve your issue. Have a happy weekend!

Windows Media Player Stopped Working
Dear FPCB10,
Dear it is due to missing network sharing file required for network streaming. You can recover these files by restoring the system to an earlier time. But it is not a better thing to make this problem done.
I suggest you to reinstall the Windows Media Player.
Here I am going to post the link of Windows Media Player 12.
You can download this player and install it. It will repair and replace the files that are damaged.
Thanks.
