Hello,
Windows shuts down my computer unexpectedly. No warning. No shut down routine. It's on, then it's off. Could be in an hour, could be in ten hours. When I restart, it goes through a normal boot up…no "shut down improperly" routine at all. If I was on IE, it does say that internet session was unexpectedly shut down, would I like to go to homepage or previously viewed last page.
The computer will not get through a Full Windows Malicious Software scan without shutting down as above, nor will it get through a Norton Full system scan.
Please help me to get out of this problem.
Thanks

It appears that your computer has been infected by a boot sector virus. To remove this virus, you will have to format your primary hard disk. The primary hard disk is the one from which the system boots and loads windows. Generally it is c: You will have to perform a low level format. A low level format will erase all data on the disk. Please copy or backup all your important data on this drive. Insert a rescue disk (you can create one from your Norton anti virus program) and follow the instructions. Once the format is completed, you will also have to install the operating system as well as drivers and other software. So, remember to keep the CDs ready.

Hi Paul
To solve your problem you must turn off your windows firewall, maybe Norton Antivirus is being blocked by your firewall.
Next thing you do is turning off automatic restart.
To do that click start then right click My Computer then click properties, select advanced, under start up and recovery click settings then uncheck automatically restart.
Then do a full scan.
