I want to update my windows, but I am getting this error message “windowsupdate_80246005”. How can I resolve it?

The update error code 80246005 appears when the operating system becomes unable to save the updates to the Catroot2 folder; it is a component for downloading and installing updates. Sometimes when the cryptographic service is disabled or not functioning correctly, then you will also face these types of error messages.

For fixing it, you need to repair the Catroot2 folder or troubleshoot the cryptographic service. Simply follow the steps to get rid of the error –

1. Or you can restart the cryptographic service by opening the control panel and then opening the administrative tools. In the administrative tools search for windows update and then restart it by right-clicking on it and selecting start/restart.

2. Then do the same for cryptographic services by searching the cryptographic services right-clicking on it and selecting start/restart.
