Hi,Â
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate. I recently bought a new Windows Vista software and I am unable to view computers on my wireless network. It’s just showing workgroup machine, in cmd box.Â
They are on the same workgroup. From the command prompt I type, "Net view" and enter and it returns an error, "System error 6118 has occurred" after two minutes.

Wireless network just shows me System error 6118
Most probably settings were saved incorrectly by Windows 7 in the profile for the network.
Follow these steps to fix this error.
-
Delete current profile. From Control Panel, select Network and Internet, then Network and then Sharing Center.
-
Select 'Manage wireless networks'. Choose current network and select Remove.
-
Connect the network again after removal, and type the unique WEP key.
Hope this could help.

Wireless network just shows me System error 6118
Start the computer in safe mode. If the computer is back to normal in safe mode, the network is blocked by some stuffs in startup. Node type has been modified to peer to peer where this shall be combined.
Two solutions could fix this.
-
Open Network Connections, click-right Wireless Connection. Choose Properties.
-
Choose ‘Wireless Networks’, then ‘Advanced’. ‘Networks to access’ and then ‘Any available network’
