I do have a Linksys E2-500 on my Ubuntu OS and I’m having difficulties connecting to my wireless connection. There are no problems when I use the cable (Ethernet) but it’s just very problematic when I try to run it over WiFi. It could connect for a short span of time then it becomes unstable.

Wireless Problems I’m encountering with Ubuntu
If Ethernet connection is okay then it is a possible wireless signal issue. Have you tried connecting your laptop to a different wireless network or to any of the WiFi hotspots? Is it the same connection? If it is, then there is a need for you to check your wireless card. It might be weak in receiving signals. If connection is okay with other WiFi connections, then you need to check the settings of Linksys.
The router might not be working properly. Wireless connection is affected by EMI's or Electromagnetic Interference. Examples of EMI's are radio waves from cell phone, microwaves etc. Thick carpets and walls should also be considered since this also affects wireless signals.
