MS-Office Communicator: Your credentials may be incorrect

Hi folks,

I am using Microsoft Communicator to communicate our clients around the country. When I was on my daily routine to send and check my email, I meet an error that said, that my credential or the server is down.

 

Microsoft Office Outlook Integration error.

Your credentials may be incorrect, or your Mail server may be down.

To retry connecting to Microsoft Office Outlook now, click Yes, Otherwise, click NO.

On my analysis of the error, it can not connect to the mail server or my username and password is incorrect. So I check on my connection towards the mail server, my physical LAN connection is on. I retyped my username and password again, to insure it was inputted correctly, and the mail server is not down, I ran out of ideas to what is the cause of this error. Please help me with this error.

MS-Office Communicator: Your credentials may be incorrect

Are you using Communicator 2007? The Communicator 2007 has an email comparison check. If your SMTP address on Microsoft Outlook profile doesn’t match on the SMTP address on the user object, you will receive this kind of error.

In order to resolve this issue, you need to disable the email comparison check.

Here’s how:

1. Click Start and click Run.
2. On the Run window, type regedit then press enter.
3. A new window should pop up. Right click on the registry subkey

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftCommunicator

4. Point to New and click DWORD Value.
5. Type DisableEmailComparisonCheck. This serve as the name of the new registry entry then press enter.
6. Double click DisableEmailComparisonCheck and type 1 in the value data box and click ok.
7. Close the registry editor.

Hi Mikeallay's,

I was facing the same problem i. e. Microsoft office outlook integration error and your credentials may be incorrect, or your mail server may be down. So to fix this problem make the account through which communicator locates your calendar information the as default account, it will start work correctly.
