Questions Solved

Hello. I own a Compaq 15-a003sa laptop, and I am experiencing some issues with the screen. Most of the time it works fine, but then suddenly lines appear all over it when I move the mouse. It doesn’t happen every day, but maybe 3 times a week. It still worries me, however. What could be the problem? What could I do to fix it?

I am trying to repair my aunt’s laptop, a Toshiba Satellite L500. The device seems to be in working order, except that the screen remains black. There is no response whatsoever. I tried to connect it to my desktop monitor, but to no avail. I tried to repeat the process after taking out the two RAM sticks, but the situation didn’t change. What should I try next? Is there any hope for it?

I was working on my Fujitsu Lifebook when I started noticing that the touchpad was not working properly. It started to lag, and the situation didn´t improve after restart. I tried plugging in my parent´s wireless mouse, but the computer does not even detect it. I am unsure what to do. What could the problem be? Is there a correlation between the two?

Hello. I want to update the RAM sticks on my Asus Rampage 4 motherboard. I am unsure of which of the following options will be better:

1.   Two 8GB sticks of RAM, thus allowing me the option of upgrading it further

2.   Four 4GB sticks of RAM, thus giving me a quad channel RAM,

Which option would you recommend? Are there many advantages to a quad core RAM? Is it even worth it to expand a 2x8GB RAM?

I am experiencing a weird issue with my internet browsers and mouse. Whenever I want to select a word or some text on either IE or Chrome, the mouse will refuse to do it. I can click links or interact with the browsers, I just can’t select any text. When I do it on any other program, the mouse selects text fine, just not on both my browsers. I tried restarting the computer, unplugging the mouse, searching for new drivers, reinstalling the mouse. Nothing. I am very confused. What could I try next?

Hello, I am a father of 2 tech savvy teenagers. They have gotten really good at discovering the Windows Admin password, the WiFi password and even my email and Facebook password. Is there a way to stop them from discovering them? I tried changing the passwords periodically, but they seem to know the new ones right away…

I finally arranged a home office in my apartment, thus having to move my desktop from the living room to the new space (short distance, no bumps). I obviously had to disconnect everything, and reassemble the computer-monitor-printer workstation again. The problem is that the monitor is not working. I know I plugged in all correctly (I even have each slot and cable labelled). The computer starts with no problem, but the only response from my monitor is the tiny power LED indicator. What could the problem be? What could I have done wrong, when the setting is exactly the same?

My Android tablet caught a Trojan, so the first thing I did was resetting its factory settings, in the hope that it would be deleted. How can I know for sure that the Trojan is gone? Now I am concerned about my other devices attached to the same WiFi network as the Android tablet. Are they at risk? Do I need to change the password and/or other things?

Hello, I bought an Acer Extensa with Windows 7second hand for a very sweet deal. Everything seems to be in order, however, it won’t shut down on its own. When I click the shutdown button, the laptop simply restarts. Same when I click the restart button. The only way I gave to shut it down is to press the power button for a while until it does. This doesn’t seem healthy for the device. What could the problem be? Is it hardware or software?
